I am a tenured Associate Professor at the Moon Soul Graduate School of Future Strategy, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

My research explores how new technologies can be harnessed to address enduring questions about democratic engagement and societal cohesion. I have been interested in topics such as deliberation and public consultation, narratives and mediated contact, and the implications of emerging technologies for the health of democracy.

My work has appeared in top-tiered journals in communication, such as the Journal of Communication, New Media and Society, and Digital Journalism. I was the recipient of the Young Scholar Award from the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies. I am currently serving as an Associate Editor for Human Communication Research.

Before joining KAIST, I worked at NTU Singapore for 10 years. I studied at Stanford University (Ph.D., Communication), University of Wisconsin—Madison (M.A., Communication Arts), and Yonsei University (B.A., Communication).
